From the 10th to the 15th of January 2009 the Research Group held workshops and meetings on Action Research in Rangpur.  It was facilitated by Abul Kalam, Altaf Hossain and Vibekananda Howlader............

On the 18th of July 2009 Ms. Farida Akhter from the Curriculum Development Group held a workshop at the RDEC Auditorium, LGED Bhaban............

On the 26th and 27th January the workshop brought together members of the NCTB, other government agencies, international bodies such as Unicef, RNE, NGOs and INGOs along with the faculty of IED, BRACU. The intention was to initiate a dialogue on key aspects that inform any curriculum and its development, identifying areas of agreement and work towards forging an ‘action coalition’ that would pro-actively support the curriculum development process............

This was the second workshop in a series held on the 16th and 17 of March initiated by BRACU-IED along with NCTB on exploring issues related to curriculum development and implementation. Those present included members of the NCTB, Unicef, NGOs and INGOs along with the faculty of BRACU-IED............

The third part of this workshop was held on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of March 2009.  It's objectives were to analyze the present curriculum, scrutinize the limitations and find out a direction towards a new curriculum............

The fourth part of this workshop was held on the 8th, 9th 10th of October 2009 and facilitated by Mr. Subir Shukla............

From the 21st to the 29th of June, Dr Syed Saad Andaleeb conducted a work shop on quantitative approaches on educational research. Dr Andaleeb is a professor and the Program Chair of Marketing at the Black School of Business, Penn State Erie, editor of the Journal of Bangladesh Studies, as well as the president of the Bangladesh Development Initiative............

The workshop was held on April 3-4, 2008 to understand how IED can work in this area in its second phase. The participants were IED professionals from all sections............

Workshops and group meetings were held during April 6-11, 2008 with Dr. Mainus Sultan from the University of Massachusetts, USA as the key resource person to identify capacity building needs of the IED staff in academic, training, and action research activities for the next phase............

An orientation workshop was held on July 31, 2008 on the topic “Action Research: Principles and Practice” – facilitated by Dr. Monica Gomes, Senior Faculty of IED............

A workshop and open conversation was arranged on ‘How critical thinking pedagogies used in the United States might be adapted to the IED’, held on September 17-18, 2008 and facilitated by Professor John Bean, Seattle University and Rosalie Bean, South Seattle Community College. The discussion included the theory and practice of teaching critical thinking, principles, strategies and simple classroom exercises for promoting critical thinking in classrooms............

This workshop was designed and facilitated by Dr. Monica Gomes and the academic team, for IED researchers and professionals on September 22-24, 2008 to enhance their understanding of action research............

IED’s academic team also engages in BRAC University’s capacity development of its newly recruited Faculty members. As part of a planning team they have contributed in designing, coordinating and co- facilitating the BRACU Faculty Orientations held at Savar TARC during January 9-10, 2008, May 6-8, 2008, and September 2-4, 2008............
