Minimum qualification for applying

a) SSC and HSC: Minimum GPA of 3.00 in each examination.

b) GCE 'O' Levels and 'A' Levels: Minimum GPA of 2.5 in 'O' Levels in five subjects and 'A' Levels in two subjects and total GPA 6.00 according to BRAC University scale: A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 & E=1. (only one E is acceptable)

Candidates who have completed higher secondary education (12 years of schooling) under a system different from SSC/HSC or 'O/A' Levels will have to get approval of the Equivalence Committee of the University. 

Foreign Education Certificate: Candidates who have passed from abroad have to submit equivalence certificates from the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka. 

Candidates with a break of study of more than two years, but not over five years, will have to apply to the Admission Committee stating the reason for break of study. If the break is more than five years the application will be submitted to the University Authority for final decision.

Candidates for BSc in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Physics and Applied Physics and Electronics must have Physics & Mathematics at HSC/'A' - Levels/Others. Candidates for BSc in 

Computer Science and BS in Mathematics must have Mathematics at HSC or 'A' - Levels. 
Candidates for BSc in Electrical & Electronic Engineering having Physics and Mathematics but not Chemistry at HSC or 'A' - Levels must take a remedial course on Chemistry in addition to the courses required for the program.

Candidates for Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons), BSc in Biotechnology and Microbiology having Biology and Chemistry but not Mathematics at HSC or 'A'-Levels must take a remedial course on Mathematics in addition to the courses required for the program.

Note: Requirements may be changed anytime if there is a change in admission policy by the University authority. 

Admission Test

All candidates will have to sit for a written admission test and an interview in the manner as described:

  • Candidates for BA in English and LLB (Hons):
    Written admission test in English and Logical Reasoning.

  • Candidates for BBA, BSc in Computer Science, BSc in Computer Science and Engineering, BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering, BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BS in Physics, BS in Applied Physics & Electronics, BS in Mathematics and BSS in Economics, BSc (Hons) in Pharmacy, BSc in Microbiology, BSc in Biotechnology:
    Written Admission test in English, Logical Reasoning and Mathematics.

  • Candidates for Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch):
    Written admission test in English, Logical Reasoning, Mathematics and a test in Drawing.

  • In order to qualify, candidates must pass each section and subsection separately with minimum 40% marks.

  • Those who qualify in the written test will be called for interview for final selection.


Transfers

Transfer of credits from an educational institution with a system similar to BRAC University may be considered after admission. Such candidates will have to apply with required documents and are subject to credit transfer rules of BRAC University.

Application For Admission

Application Form, Admission Instructions, Prospectus of BRAC University and other related information are available at the Admission Desk on the Ground floor of BRAC University.

Completed Application with a test fee of Tk. 1000 must be submitted to the Admission Desk.

A complete application includes:
1) Completed Application Form
2) Two passport size color photographs, duly attested
3) Attested copies of Certificates and Mark Sheets of all Examinations (SSC, HSC etc.)
4) Testimonial/Letter of Recommendation from Institution last attended
5) Admission Test Fee Receipt

Financial Aid

  • Up to 100% tuition waiver to those who obtained GPA of 5.0 (without 4th subject) in SSC and HSC from Science, Arts & Commerce groups or have 7 'A's in 'O' Level (in one sitting) & 3 'A's in 'A' Level and on the basis of performance in the admission test.

  • BRAC-FORD Foundation offers full tuition waiver, living & book allowance for meritorious students from disadvantaged financial backgrounds who obtained (without 4th subject) a GPA of 4.5 from Science, and GPA 4.0 from Arts & Commerce in HSC Examination.

  • Tuition waiver based on financial needs.

  • Tuition waiver based on performance.

  • Parents with two children at BRAC University are offered 50% tuition waiver for the second child.

  • Physically challenged students will receive special fee waiver at various rates to be determined by the Scholarship Committee on case-by-case basis.

Residential Semester

All students are required to attend a Residential Semester Savar Campus in the 2nd semester, except Architecture students who would go in the 3rd semester. The semester will provide an intensive course on enhancing the communication skills, in particular English, besides courses in Bangladesh Studies and Ethics. It will also emphasize, through various exercises and activities, the development of leadership qualities as well as the ability to live and function together as a group. Students undergoing the Residential shall be required to go on field trips.
