Admission

Admission of Foreign Students

BRACU offers excellent facilities to foreign students for studying in Bangladesh in various disciplines at the undergraduate level.

Minimum qualification for applying:

a) O-Level in five subjects and A-Level in two subjects with a GPA of 3 at each level according to BRACU scale: A= 5, B= 4, C= 3, D=2 & E=1. Only one E is acceptable. 

b) Candidates who have completed higher secondary education (12 years of schooling) under a system different from SSC/HSC or O/A levels will be considered eligible provide they have scored a minimum SAT-1 score of 1550 and TOEFL score of 213 (computer based/IELTS score of 5.5.

Foreign students will not be required to sit for admission test.

  • Candidates for BS in Computer Science must have Mathematics at HSC or 'A'-Level.
  • Candidates for BS in Computer Science & Engineering, BS in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics & Electronics and Mathematics must have physics & mathematics at HSC or 'A'-level.
  • Candidates for admission in B.Sc (Hons) in Pharmacy must have biology at the HSC or A-level. Candidates applying for admission in B.Sc in Microbiology and Biotechnology must have a remedial course in biology if they did not have biology at the HSC or A-level.
  • Candidates with break of study of more than two years will have to apply separately stating the cause of break of study.

Note: The criteria for admission may change depending on the decision of the university

Application for admission:

Apply online at www.bracu.ac.bd/apply

A complete application should include:

  • Completed application form (available on website)
  • Filled-in ID form with three passport size color photographs, duly attested / identified
  • Filled-in student's information form
  • Filled-in medical form
  • Certified true copies of all certificates and mark sheets (certified English translation of these may be given whenever necessary)
  • Testimonial / letter of recommendation from institution last attended
  • Evidence of payment of application fees

Application dead lines:

June 1 for Fall Semester
November 1 for Spring Semester
March 1 for Summer Semester

Provisional admission:

Many students willing to join the university might not have the required standard of proficiency in English language. If the students fail to attain the minimum standard of English proficiency required by the university they may be asked to attend remedial English courses before the admission to the university. In the end of this course they will have to take an English proficiency test and if qualified might be admitted to BRACU.

Fees structures*

a. Non-refundable fees
Admission fee US$ 300 (one time)
Computer lab fee US$ 60 per month
Students activity fee US$ 60 per month
Library fee US$ 80 per month
Total US$ 500 


b. Tuition fee per credit US$ 300 for students from developed countries. However, students from SAARC region and other developing countries will get 50% rebate i.e. they shall pay US$150 per credit.

c. Merit scholarships: Availability of merit scholarship based on performance at BRACU. But scholarship criteria are subject to change without notice.

Accommodation, food and transportation*:

Limited number of accommodation for students are available on first come first served basis. However, the Student Affairs Office of BRACU will help those who seek assistance for accommodation outside.

Double occupancy - US$ 150 per month
Food - US$ 150 per month
Transport (hostel-campus-hostel) US$ 100 per month
Total US$ 400 per month


*These fees may change from time to time as per decision of BRACU authority

Refund Policy:

Only tuition fees will be refunded to a student who withdraws from a semester after registration as per the following rates:
100% within 7 days from the day classes begin
75% within 16 days from the day classes begin
50% within 23 days from the day classes begin
No refund after 23 days
Admission and other fees will not be refundable.

  2. BSc in Computer Science 124 credits 
  3. BSc in Computer Science & Engineering 136 credits 
  4. BSc in Electronics and Communication Engineering 124 credits
  5. BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering 136 credits
  6. Bachelor of Social Science in Economics 120 credits 
  7. Bachelor of Arts in English 120 credits 
  8. Bachelor of Law 135 credits 
  9. Bachelor of Science in Physics 132 credits 
  10. Bachelor of Architecture 199 credits
  11. Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics & Electronics 130 credits
  12. Bachelor of Science in Mathematics 127 credits
  13. Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons) 164 credits
  14. Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology 136 credits
  15. Bachelor of Science in Microbiology 136 credits

To complete admission formalities students are required to:

a. Choose the courses and obtain signature of departmental advisor
b. Write the course numbers on the registration form and compute the amount of tuition fees payable
c. Obtain authorization from the Accounts Department
d. Deposit cash or pay order/ demand draft in the bank and obtain receipt
e. Submit the registration form to the Accounts office

Medical Insurance:

All foreign students will have to get themselves insured for medical coverage including checkups, hospitalization etc. BRACU will facilitate the process of insuring with reputable insurance companies in Bangladesh.

Visa:

BRACU will assist in expediting the visa process as needed by a foreign student.
