Having a Child with Oral Cleft: Family Experiences. (An Exploratory Descriptive Study)
Zubair Shams
Abstract
Oral cleft is one of the most common birth defects. In a developing country like Bangladesh giving birth of a cleft child is a curse of God to the family. Here most of the families live under poverty, so it acts as a burden of the family.
Objective
The general objective of the study was to explore the factors by which a family having a child with oral cleft is being stigmatized. Specifically to identify the knowledge and attitude of people, their health seeking behaviors, some barriers they faced and to see the comparison among the treated and untreated children’s families.
