Children" An Independent Study On Role Of Drop In
Centre In Reducing Drug Abuse Among Street Children In

Abstract
There
are an estimated 70,000 street children in Pakistan, but
there number is still low as compared to another group of
children, who work on the streets to support their families.
Interestingly both of these groups are exposed to similar
problems and risk behaviors including their vulnerability to
substance abuse. According to a study conducted by the
United Nations Office for Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) in
Pakistan, majority of the street children (around 80%) are
drug abusers (UNODC, 2004).
