Street Children in Dhaka: Socio-cultural Correlates of Malnutrition: A Mixed Method Study

Abstract

Children in street situation constitute a marginalized group in most societies. They do not have what society considers appropriate in terms of family, education, and health. The continuous exposure to adverse environment and nature of their living and livelihood make them vulnerable. The first step towards achieving that is to know about their current nutritional and health status more. Very little is known about the children in street situation in Asia, particularly Bangladesh and no scientific report has yet been produced on the nutritional status and anthropometrics of children in street situations in Bangladesh.
