Dr. Muhammad Aziz Rahman
Abstract
Bangladesh has been experiencing an epidemiological transition from communicable to non-communicable diseases. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in developed countries and the incidence is increasing in developing countries. Among all the risk factors for CHD, tobacco consumption is the single most important preventable cause. Bangladeshi people get CHD at a younger age compared with the Western people. Relationship of cigarette smoking with CHD is well established. However, relation of other forms of smoking and smokeless tobacco use are not well studied. Therefore, this study focused on risk of CHD with various forms of tobacco use among young patients.
