Philemon Odiwuor Yugi
Abstract
World over, the majority of youths married and unmarried, in school and out of school lack access to sexual and reproductive health information, education and services and therefore lack the means by which to prevent unwanted outcomes that can have detrimental impact on their future (UNFPA 2002). The concept of youth is not clear and the definition may vary from culture to culture. The United Nations define youth as those aged between 15 and 24 years. This definition has been adopted for this research. Youth sexual and reproductive health (YSRH) is a human right, essential to human development and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (DFID 2004). However, due to cultural, social and economic barriers the young people have little or no access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information.
