Abstract

Heterosexual transmission of HIV is the most common mode of HIV transmission in Bangladesh. So, commercial sex workers (CSWs) represent a group of potential transmitter and or recipient of AIDS. Among the CSWs the hotel based sex workers (HBSWs) have the highest client turnover rate, low condom use in sexual interactions and extremely low personal risk perception. Consistent and correct condom use has been identified as the most cost effective means to prevent all STIs including HIV infection. Information for comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the condom use behavior in hotel based sex workers is scarce. But this sort of knowledge is crucial for effective condom promotion among the HBSWs and their clients.
