International Conference on Taking Men's Health Seriously
On August 1, 2010, an international conference on men's health was organized by the School at BRAC Centre with international and national speakers working with men's and women's health. The conference was co- sponsored by the Centre for Gender, Sexuality and HIV/AIDS (CGSH), BRAC University (http://sph.bracu.ac.bd/) and the Realising Rights Research Programme Consortium (www.realising-rights.org). Realising Rights is funded by the UK Department for International Development (Grant no. HD43). Speakers came from IDS, African Population and Health Research Centre (APHRC), London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSTMH), ICDDR,B, Population Council, Engender Health, Naripokkho, and from the School. The conference was attended by 150 participants.
The conference brought together public health experts and practitioners, academics, activists, advocates, policy makers, and the media in order to disseminate the different reports on the need for taking men's health seriously, and how men's health directly and indirectly affects women's and children's lives.
